Photos with bright sun rays or sparkling colored lights can always create effects like starlight or diffuse light. It is really beautiful and magical.
You can absolutely use point and shoot cameras that we often call travel cameras or compact cameras to capture images of light rays emitted from the sun or electric lights.
However, if you want to achieve the best performance, you should use a DSLR camera or non-mirrorless cameras that can change lenses and easily adjust the aperture.
