Exploring of the country and people Ethiophia.
Ethiopia is a country located in the Horn of Africa. It
shares borders with Eritrea to the north and northeast, Djibouti and Somalia to
the east, Sudan and South Sudan to the west, and Kenya to the south.
Ethiopia is the most densely populated country in the world
and the second most populous country on the African continent with more than
102 million people. It covers a total area of 1,100,000 square kilometers
(420,000 square miles), and its capital and largest city is Addis Ababa.
The major portion of Ethiopia lies on the Horn of Africa,
which is the easternmost part of the African landmass. Bordering Ethiopia are
Sudan and South Sudan to the west, Djibouti and Eritrea to the north, Somalia
to the east and Kenya to the south. Within Ethiopia is a vast highland complex
of mountains and dissected plateaus divided by the Great Rift Valley.
Ethiopia have the deserts along the eastern border to the
tropical forests in the south to extensive Afromontane in the northern and
southwestern parts. Lake Tana in the north is the source of the Blue Nile. It
also has a large number of endemic species, notably the gelada, the walia ibex
and the Ethiopian wolf ("Simien fox").
The dominant climate is the tropical monsoon, with
variations in terrain. The Ethiopian plateau covers most of the country and has
a generally cooler climate compared to other areas near Equator. Most of the
country's major cities are located at elevations of more than 2,000-2,500
meters (6,562.8202 ft) above sea level, including historic capitals such as
Gondar and Axum.
Ethiopia has 31 endemic species of mammals. The African wild
dog prehistorically had widespread distribution in the territory. Ethiopia is a
global center of avian diversity. To date more than 856 bird species have been
recorded in Ethiopia, twenty of which are endemic to the country.
